I’ll be honest… I’d been excited about Raavan for a while now. It’s the sorta movie that I go into knowing that it’ll either blow me away, or gimme a lotta fodder for my next comic. Well, go into it, I did… And I hope you’re not skipping out on too much work to read this, because there’s a lo-oooo-oot of fodder to be had here.

Shit, I watched the damn movie on the first day of its release expecting too many things.
I am not saying the movies which I stated are the best I’ve seen…it is just that they are good and better than most movies…because they are unique and original.
Why can’t we make classy movies without too many holes ?
After watching this movie, I watched the ‘The Godfather’ and ‘The Truman Show’ back-to-back. It soothed some of my hunger for a good movie.
Ofcourse, good films come from the Hindi and South Indian Movie Industries(I just hate the words ‘Bollywood’ , ‘Kollywood’,'Sandalwood’ etc)like…once in a year…it is just not enough.

HaHaHaaa.. loved the cartoon.. but the movie too.. for that matter ramayana would be as funny and stupid as this cartoon if tried to cover in 3 hours. nice cartoon, but still love the movie, the movie is more about comments and perspective than anything else, which were brilliant yet very subtle.

Like you I was also pretty excited about this movie and drove 1 and half hour and spend 50 bucks (gas+ticket) to watch the first day show. In the end I returned all frustrated and the movie was total was waste of money and time. But anyways once its DVD is released I am going to watch it again. For sure I am going to enjoy it this time. Ratnam has been going downhill ever since he hitched his wagon to Abh_Ash. This story had no motivations at all, you never felt for any characters. What a waste! Will we never have another Nayagan from the man who just ended up giving competition to RGV for the dud of the century?

Weakest of your strips… this movie in no way was unintentionally funny… tribals may be uneducated but so far our Indian govt. is unable to stop naxalism (in reference to your 3 trucks bullshit)… as for as the monkey man is concerned yes this movie was a bit poetic in reference to Ramayana. This is the best portrayal of Ramayana in modern times… and boss this strip seemed to be inspired more from the likes of ‘joker- taran adarsh’ and many like him. “Beera is raavan or robinhood” is not a bad dialog by any means maybe some were thinking to hear Shakespearean dialog out of tribals but then it was not the theme of movie…
By the way was hoping to see your strip on Rajneeti but it seems you liked that awfully stupid movie…

This was brilliant…. When we were watching the movie, we were ROTF laughing… when we read your review…. ROTF again laughing about this review… Wish Mani Sir had thought of some kinda logic before naming the movie or even starting work on it… The situations were so force fit to the title… But if not for a movie like that, we wouldnt have got reviews like this… Keep it up Sahil!!!

as much as i appreciate your creativity that you often display, i suggest you to go easy sometimes. Film-making isnt an easy task, and if your purpose is simply to diss a movie without considering its positives, its not such an appreciated task from that point of view.
