The Vigil Idiot Turns 1!
Before we get into the celebrations, a little background for those not in the know…
About a year and some ago, this humble, then 20, year old was bored. And like most bored 20 year olds, he turned to randomly commenting on friends’ status messages on Facebook to entertain himself. One of these status messages was this one right here:
To cut a long story short, that status message comment turned into This Facebook Note… which turned into This Blog… which my friends/college batchmates/eventual roommates turned into this kickass site you are on right now… Exactly One Year Ago! Now I think I’ve thanked you guys before… But meh, once more can’t hurt. So Ashwin, Tarun & Olina, much thanks and awesomeness your way!
Now seeing as to how it’s been a year, I thought it’d be fit to have a quick recap of all the fun we’ve had! So here goes…
Fan Of The Year
And now for a very special mention! It’s time to unveil my choice for ‘Fan Of The Year’! Now with some 2000 odd comments on the site and another few hundred on the Facebook Fan Page, you’d think I’d have a hard time choosing just one big fan… And you’d be right too! I mean, with all the indecent proposals flying around, all of which I love and am totally humbled by, choosing just one would seem like an unfair call.
But then I think about this one person who towered completely head, shoulders, torso and feet above the rest. Ladies & Gentlemen, presenting, without a doubt, my biggest fan – Bill The Butcher.

Where was i when all this was happening ? Got to know today only when so many people were talking about the completion of 1 year , on my time line. I read just now 3 of the reviews or spoofs (whatever we call) of the movies which i have seen recently i.e. 3 Idiots, Kurabaan & Striker. I did go through the complete scrips and read the comments of the readers with your reverts Sahil.
I appreciate the work you are doing. It is simply great. Besides this amazing concept, each n every review has been done after analyzing the movie to the minutest detail. Loved it.
Need not to comment on the fun part, that is the key and is very well maintained in all the scrips. Good that it is not overdone and also due respect has been given to the sensibility (wherever that is) in the movies.

One of the most commendable things is that you watch all the crappy movies( read Shaapit, Right Yaa Wrong, chance pe dance…..repeat…CHANCE PE DANCE?????) which people would give a pass to even if they are invited to the premiere party. I think you should charge money from people just to visit your site.

I dont know if BilltheB got the wrong blog… for a while I thought he had a point when I saw your Jon Stewart defence (which appears to me to be: we’re a comedy show so we can say stuff we dont necessarily have to back up to the same standards as the news channels we criticize).
But that’s wrong. You aren’t trying to be Jon Stewart (to my reading). I have sampled many of your reviews and they are send-ups beautifully done, they dont pretend to be deep and insightful commentary or lamentation or whatever BtB was expecting… If you are indeed getting serious-stuff-passing-under-comedy, you can expect serious critiques of your criticism and not be able to spring the “but we’re comedy, dude” defence.

Just viisited another blog ‘Dirtscapes’. They have got hilarious reviews on some of the cult-classic movies on Mithun da- Gunda, Loha, Disco Dancer!! These are movies no die-hard cine-buff should miss out on!

Saw your original first post (on facebook notes), in the review of yuvraaj, the dream sequence quote reminded me of a movie i had the misfortune of seeing in a movie hall. “The Road Movie”. Perhaps you have heard of it.
If you take out the time to watch it, I am quite sure you will find DEADLY material for your next comic.

Forget Kites, do Raavan. It has so many WTF moments, culminating in a WTF climax, that I suspect you wrote the script for it and then Mani Ratnam screwed you over. It seriously looks like it is based on TVI comics.
